Projects

Projects belong to a company and contain work scopes that define what your team can log time against. Each project tracks budgets, rates, and billing settings.

Work scopes

Work scopes are budget line items within a project. They live inside the Budgets tab on the project detail page. Each scope has a budget type (time or expense) and a fee type (top-down or bottom-up).

  • Top-down — A fixed fee allocated to the scope.
  • Bottom-up — Fee calculated from staff category allocations and hourly rates.

Rate hierarchy

When calculating billable amounts, Redsetta checks rates in this order:

  1. Work scope allocation rate (staff category rate override on the scope)
  2. Project staff rate (per-person rate override on the project)
  3. Staff category default rate
  4. Project fallback rate
Work scopes cannot be deleted if time entries reference them. Deactivate them instead to prevent new time logging.
