Projects
Projects belong to a company and contain work scopes that define what your team can log time against. Each project tracks budgets, rates, and billing settings.

Creating a project
- Click New Project.
- Select the client company.
- Enter a project name, project number, and optional budget amount.
- Add work scopes to define billable line items.
Work scopes
Work scopes are budget line items within a project. They live inside the Budgets tab on the project detail page. Each scope has a budget type (time or expense) and a fee type (top-down or bottom-up).
- Top-down — A fixed fee allocated to the scope.
- Bottom-up — Fee calculated from staff category allocations and hourly rates.

Rate hierarchy
When calculating billable amounts, Redsetta checks rates in this order:
- Work scope allocation rate (staff category rate override on the scope)
- Project staff rate (per-person rate override on the project)
- Staff category default rate
- Project fallback rate
Work scopes cannot be deleted if time entries reference them. Deactivate them instead to prevent new time logging.
